Guest Post: Raising Hope, a New Fall Comedy
Guest Author: Jermaine Haynes
Raising Hope is a fall show that I’m looking forward to. I don’t recognize any of the actors, but that doesn’t deter me. I think it’s good to add some new blood into the Hollywood acting pool. The show is about a 23-year-old who must raise his daughter as a single parent. The child is the result of a one-night stand. The show is listed as a comedy, but I sort of wish it was a drama about the real life trouble of being a single parent. I’m a single parent myself, and so I will watch it because I believe I can relate to it. The fact that it’s a comedy may be cool, too, considering the state of sitcoms today. In my opinion, most sitcoms aren’t funny these days, so hopefully this one will give me something to laugh at.
The show will premiere on Fox this fall. I don’t watch any of the other Fox shows, but hopefully this one will turn me into a fan of the network. I will watch the first episode via my satellite TV packages. If I decide that I like it, then I will add it to my DVR.
What can I say..? Jermaine wants it to be drama..
Which is fine, but I guess putting the series on a Comedy line is just fine… Raising a child as a single-parent is already drama, so we don’t need to pour more drama… Everyone needs a laugh, after all..
